Who is this course for?

This course is intended for learners with well-established language skills at the intermediate level who wish to further develop their fluency and precision of expression. The classes focus on expanding vocabulary related to more complex topics and consolidating and applying advanced grammatical structures, including more elaborate subordinate clauses and stylistic nuances. Participants will refine their ability to express opinions, present arguments, and engage in discussions on social, professional, and cultural topics. The course also supports understanding and producing longer, varied texts—both spoken and written—at a higher level of difficulty. The materials and learning pace are designed to systematically increase independence, confidence, and naturalness in communication.

What will you learn?

This course is designed for learners who have already mastered the basics of pronunciation, intonation, and complex grammatical structures, and wish to further refine their skills at the upper-intermediate level. During the classes, you will focus on improving fluency and naturalness of expression, expanding your vocabulary with specialist and abstract topics, and understanding and producing more elaborate spoken and written texts. You will learn to engage in complex discussions, express opinions, present arguments, and communicate effectively in a variety of personal, professional, and social situations. The materials and learning pace are carefully tailored to help you systematically develop your linguistic independence and confidence in communication.

Stages of learning

This Norwegian B1.2 course is for you if you already have a solid upper-intermediate foundation and want to further develop your fluency and precision of expression. You will learn more advanced phrases, expand your thematic vocabulary, and enhance your ability to hold longer, more complex, and natural conversations. You will practice a variety of communicative situations that will enable you to communicate effectively and confidently in Norwegian in everyday, formal, and professional contexts.

  • Discussing topics related to culture, health, environment, the welfare state, and human rights
  • Analyzing and understanding longer, authentic texts such as articles, interviews, reports, and literary excerpts
  • Mastering more complex grammatical constructions: the subjunctive mood, passive voice, and multiple-clause sentences
  • Presenting and justifying your own opinions on social, professional, and cultural topics
  • Learning formal and informal correspondence: writing CVs, official letters, and emails
  • Developing skills to understand implied meanings and nuances in spoken and written discourse, including exercises in reading “between the lines”
